History
Established on 16 May 1987 with Dr B V Rao as the Founder President.
Vision
To see India as the No.1 country on the poultry map of the world Not merely in number but also in terms of quality, value, productivity and management.
Mission
- To train economically underprivileged youth in the art and science of poultry management.
- To foster a spirit of entrepreneurship in students that can lead to innovation.
- To train students to acquire expertise in self-employment.
- To provide highly trained individuals to the V H Group entities in particular and the national poultry industry in general.
Training
Regular courses
- Basic Commercial Poultry Management - 24 weeks duration - for beginners.
- Advanced Course in Poultry Management - 48 weeks duration - for large scale/managerial level operation.
Specialized courses (2 weeks)
- Disease Diagnosis and Laboratory Work - for veterinarians.
- Feed Formulation and Proximate Feed Analyses - for those who intend to start their own feed mixing.
- Appreciation Course in Poultry Management – for Banking & Finance Executives
- Hatchery Management - for those engaged in hatchery business.

- WPSA Education Award for outstanding contribution of the Dr.B.V.Rao IPMT to the development of the poultry industry was presented at XXIII World Poultry Congress held at Brisbane, Australia on 04 July 2008.
